Producción científica en la Universidad de Ciencias Médicas de Sancti Spíritus.

Resumen

RESUMEN

Introducción: La producción de nuevos conocimientos es el principal aporte de la universidad al desarrollo científico de una nación. Existen organizaciones independientes que evalúan y relacionan la actividad científica universitaria, una de ellas es el Ranking Iberoamericano, el cual realiza esa evaluación a través de indicadores de calidad. En mayo de 2010 el grupo SCImago publicó este ranking de producción científica que incluye a 607 universidades de la península ibérica y América Latina y donde aparece incluida la Facultad de Ciencias Médicas de Sancti Spíritus. Objetivo: Analizar la importancia de la inclusión de la Facultad de Ciencias Médicas de Sancti Spíritus, ahora Universidad de Ciencias Médicas de Sancti Spíritus, en el Ranking Iberoamericano SIR 2010. Desarrollo: Se realizó un análisis del Ranking Iberoamericano SIR 2010 que tienen publicados artículos recogidos por la base de datos Scopus entre los años 2003-2009; y se analizaron sus dos rangos y los indicadores de calidad. Se observó en el ranking que hay 29 universidades, institutos, facultades y centros universitarios cubanos que no forman directamente a profesionales propios del sistema nacional de salud, además se incluye un conjunto de tres institutos superiores de ciencias médicas y tres facultades de ciencias médicas procedentes de las provincias de Guantánamo, Matanzas y Sancti Spíritus. Conclusiones: La universidad de Sancti Spíritus se ubica en el tercer lugar entre las antiguas facultades cubanas que se encuentran en el ranking, superadas por su similar de Guantánamo y Matanzas. Este análisis podrá servir para trazar tácticas que mejoren la ubicación de la universidad en las próximas ediciones.

ABSTRACT

Introduction: The production of new knowledge is the main contribution of the university to the scientific development of a nation. There are independent organizations that assess and relate the scientific university, one of which is the Latin American Ranking, which performs this assessment by quality indicators. In May 2010 the SCImago group published this ranking of scientific production which includes 607 universities in the Iberian Peninsula and Latin America and where the Medical Faculty of Sancti Spiritus is included. Objective: Analyzing the importance of including the Faculty of Medical Sciences of Sancti Spiritus, now University of Medical Sciences of Sancti Spiritus in Latin American Ranking SIR 2010. Development: An analysis was made of the Latin American Ranking SIR 2010, which has published papers compiled by the Scopus database between the years 2003-2009, and analyzed the two ranges and quality indicators. It was observed in the ranking that there are 29 Cuban universities, institutes, faculties and university centers that do not train directly professionals from the national health system; also included is a group of three institutes of medical sciences and three medical schools from the provinces of Guantanamo, Matanzas and Sancti Spiritus. Conclusions: The University of Sancti Spiritus is located in the third place among the old Cuban schools that are in the ranking, outdone by its peers of Guantanamo and Matanzas. This analysis may serve to draw plans that improve the position of the university in future editions.
